community, building His Kingdom by using corporate worship, social media, community events, and personal encounters.

Our History

On the first Sunday in November 1972, twelve people met for the initial worship service at Nepean Baptist Church.  Since then, Nepean Baptist Church has grown steadfastly in numbers, yet remains a sincere and caring ministry reaching out to all in need.

Nepean Baptist Church has seen God work in a variety of remarkable ways for over 50 years.  Many have grown in their faith and this growth has led to numerous individuals becoming leaders and workers in both the local and global Church.  Nepean Baptist Church is a fully self-supporting entity. It is affiliated with the Eastern Association of North American Baptist Churches.

Our Pastor

Pastor Fred and Barb Sommerville

 

Fred and Barb have been married for over 46 years. They have three grown children and eight grandchildren. They have been in full-time Christian ministry for over 40 years as support staff at a Bible College, missionaries, and over 34 years serving as a pastor to the local church. It was in Montreal where Fred was ordained by the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada in 1991. God led the Sommerville family to Ontario in 1997 to work in a church planting ministry. Fred and Barb began serving in Baptist churches in 1999. They have ministered at Nepean Baptist Church since the end of 2011.
